Basic beauty begins with the glow of good health, which shines from within. The skin often mirrors the health of the whole body. A radiant clear complexion begins with proper nutrition, efficient digestion and assimilation of nutrients by the body and regular elimination. Skin problems are a reflection of internal health and are often a reflection of overall body and blood toxicity and/or stomach problems. Almost anything that cleanses the blood or intestines will also show a result on the skin. Skin problems can also be as a result of allergies, hormone imbalances, nutrition or dehydration.

The skin, sometimes called the third kidney, is the body's largest eliminative organ after the liver. When it functions efficiently, it eliminates two pounds of waste acids daily, so its ability to excrete toxins is of paramount importance; when the skin ceases to function properly, an increased burden is placed on the lymphatic system and other excretory organs.

Tea tree is the best re-discovery of the century. It is a relatively safe oil to use on almost any condition. Its "medicinal" properties make it a strong virus and bacteria fighter and therefore boosts the immune system.

Tea tree has been tested extensively in Australia (its country of origin) for its effectiveness as a disinfectant against bacteria and has proved itself worthy. Many books have been written on essential oils collectively but Tea tree has earned books being written on just this one oil. Many case histories back the claims made about the effectiveness of its properties from healing bleeding gums and bed sores to gangrenous sores.

High-quality tea tree oil contains 40% or more of terpinen-4-ol, the ingredient that fights harmful bacteria and fungi and makes the oil so effective in preventing and fighting infection in cuts, scrapes, insect bites, and stings.

Even severe cases of acne have been shown to benefit from anti-acne preparations that contain up to 15% tea tree oil, an effect that can be explained by the oil's antibacterial and skin-healing properties.

In one study conducted in Australia, a comparison was made between a gel containing 5% tea tree oil and a traditional 5% benzoyl peroxide acne lotion. The products proved similar in their effectiveness against pimples, although the herbal preparation worked more slowly. It was notable, however, that the product containing the tea tree oil caused significantly less dryness, redness, scaling, and itching to the surrounding skin.

Apply a drop or two to each acne lesion three times a day.
